Introducing myself to the world. Who am I? I am Abeni Sanchez, a college student at CSN. I am someone who loves to travel, reading my Bible, I love worshiping, going to church and serving with 1-2 year-olds. I have baby fever if that is what you want to call it. I feel that there is something so gentle about babies. I am a Mexican-American first generation daughter. My first language is Spanish. I am from Las Vegas, born and raised. I enjoy spending time with people getting to know them and learning from them. I am a person who is very sensitive, I care for others deeply, and I am someone who tries her hardest even though sometimes it might not seem like it. I have multiple favorite colors, baby pink, baby blue, green, yellow, and brown.
My first impression of IS101 is that it was going to be a challenge. I have never really worked with computers and how they work. I would say I was very nervous, I felt like giving up in a way, I felt as if this class wasn't meant for me. Professor Wu really helped me stay in this class, connecting through WebEx is something that really helped me.
The skill I chose in Discussion 2 part 2 was 1.5.2 Online Searching facts. I have no experience with this skill because it is one of the skill we didn't study. I feel IS101 is going to truly help me and I feel like God put this class in my life so I can truly challenge myself.
I'm proud to hear I alleviated your nervousness and helped you stay in IS101, Abeni ^_^
ReplyDelete1.5.2 "Online Searching Facts" is one of my favorite topics from LabSim. Most people don't know to use the advanced search options or Boolean operators in their search string. Good job on choosing this un-assigned topic!
We can WebEx when needed. You will succeed in IS101-3005, Spring 2026 ^_^
Hi Abeni, it is very obvious you love vibrant colors because your blog is really saturated and bright, it honestly matches your personality. I like how open you are about your faith and being first generation, that already says a lot about your strength. When you said you felt like the class was not meant for you, I felt that, because sometimes computers make it seem like everyone else already knows what they are doing. The first time I opened Canvas and saw all the assignments, I was overwhelmed too.
ReplyDeleteIt is good that you connected with Professor Wu through WebEx, because having that support makes it less scary. About online searching, I used to just type random words in Google and hope something useful pops up. I did not realize there are actual techniques that make searching more efficient and save time. I think this class is not about already being good with computers, it is more about being willing to push through even when you feel uncomfortable.
Hi Abeni, what I can take from your introduction is that you are someone who really knows herself, and I think that’s a very good thing. Being a person with strong feelings and who cares deeply about others can make life more meaningful (just my opinion). I also understand how you felt at the beginning of IS101. When we are not very familiar with computers, it can feel intimidating at first, but little by little it starts to make more sense. It’s really nice that Professor Wu took the time to connect with you and help you stay motivated in the class.
ReplyDeleteHello Abeni, I absolutely love babies! I have an 11-week-old and several of my friends have had babies the same week or right after me. I was just at the park today with my friend who has an 8-week-old, and we went for a walk. I find Spanish to be such a great language unfortunately I chose to take French in school and now I am trying to learn with Duolingo, I have a 627-day streak. I can't imagine that being a first-generation student was very easy, but you pushed through. I am glad that you pushed through with this class, the work started out very intimidating but all of it was beneficial to help absorb the upcoming labs and task.
ReplyDeleteHello Abeni, I've never been too proficient with computers either so this class was a wake up call. It started off challenging and it still is challenging at times, but getting through it is part of growing and learning as a student. I'm glad you didn't give up and kept on pushing forward. I'm sure you'll continue learning valuable information from this class as time goes on.
ReplyDeleteHey Abeni! Thank you for sharing about your faith! It's great to hear that you fell confident using computers now, they can be incredibly daunting.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to 1.5.2 fact checking is especially useful nowadays with the rampant disinformation running around!
Hi Abeni! Nice to meet you. I understand that your first impression of the class seemed challenging, new things can be intimidating, and that’s normal. I’m glad Professor Wu was able to guide you and help with your questions. I’m sure by the end of this semester you’ll be proud that you took on this challenge. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni. I have hope that you will do well in this class too. Someone who doesn’t know much about how to use a computer has an advantage over someone who refuses to try.
ReplyDeleteAbeni, you are a first-generation student whose struggles with technical aspects of IS101 show incredible fortitude - your shift from reluctance to striving to learn digital literacy has resulted from academic mentorship and faith supporting your efforts.
ReplyDeleteWhat places have you travelled and what place you would want to travel to? I also used to serve in my church in the video production team. Kudos to you for having the patience and calling to serve and take care of babies. More power to you journey and God bless.
ReplyDeleteAbeni, just reading your blog post I'm and glad to see how appreciative you are of your situation and even if you don't find it to your own liking your able to look the good in how it can benefit you and see it as a reason to grow from God. Good luck and God Bless!
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, I'm Mexican and feel like I've gotten closer to my worships too. I get called "No Sabo nino" but I understand it better than I can speak, although I can stumble through a conversation in Spanish. With online searching facts to be honest I didn't even know this was a thing but figures, that there would be an easier and efficient way to search for whatever you need. Thank you for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, it’s nice how you shared so much about who you are and the things that are important to you like your faith, family, and helping with children at church. It also takes courage to stay in a class that feels challenging at first, especially when you’re still learning how computers work. It’s great that connecting with the professor helped you stay motivated. Good luck with the rest of the semester.
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, I love your quick introduction! My first impression of IS101 was the same as yours. It seemed to be a lot of endless work, but Prof. Wu makes it organized and manageable for us. Good luck with college!
ReplyDeleteHello Abeni, the baby stage between 1-2 is honestly so fun you get to watch them learn so many new things. My daughter really started walking and talking so much in this stage. I'm glad you stayed! This course has already been really beneficial.
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, it's nice to meet someone with a beautiful heart. Your love for babies and faith in your religion is heartwarming! I'm glad you didn't instantly give up on IS101 despite knowing and feeling that it was going to be challenging. But remember that not having an experience with things does not automatically mean you would be bad at it. I know it is scary to try something sometimes with the thought of possible failure, but you'd never know if you never try it first. Happy to hear that you were able to overcome that fear and you're getting help from our professor. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, I can tell you are a very kind and nice person, which is what we need in the world right now. I know it can be challenging especially if you never really worked with computers, but like you said, connecting with WebEx and overall getting help when needed will definitely boost your confidence and you will be successful with this class and others. Good luck with everything you do!
ReplyDeleteAbeni Sanches I'm glad to hear that you are passionate t travel and reading the bible. I'm also looking forward to reading the bible and looking for a place to worship Jesus. IS101 can be challenging sometimes if we don't really put the work into it. But by putting in the work and asking Professor Albert Wu, we can complete the course IS101. Good luck in the future.
ReplyDeleteHello Abeni, your faith is very admirable and this is coming from someone who doesn't believe in a greater being. I find your devotion and kindness very touching!
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, I think the part about the colors is spot on, since your blog is eye-catching—and it's nice to learn that about your personality. By the way, my first language is Spanish, too.
ReplyDeleteHello Abeni, I'm glad to hear you feeling more confident about using computers now! I too appreciate that our professor communicates with us outside of the classroom.
ReplyDeleteHey Abeni, I really liked your post! You seem like a really kind and genuine person, and I liked how open you were about your feelings with the class.
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, I enjoyed your post. It is great that you are staying committed to IS101 even though it felt challenging at first. I also liked how you shared your experience with WebEx and how it helped you feel more supported in the class. Your openness about learning new computer skills shows a strong mindset, and it will definitely help you succeed.
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, I like the part you mentioned about overcoming your initial fear of computers, I had the same feeling. It’s great that you’re pushing through and staying in the class.
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni! One of my favorite colors is also brown, a typically non-favorite color! Similar to you, I also have major baby fever, but I am far too young to have one of my own. I agree that Prof. Wu is very helpful when walking through the steps of this class, one of the best teachers I have ever had during my whole school career!
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, I'm glad that you got past your nerves and are continuing with something new and unfamiliar. It's a lot of fun once you get a hang of how computers work. It really does make a difference in your personal and professional life being comfortable with them. Going through the assignments over Webex is extremely helpful as well. I get to work on my patience and learn something new at the same time. lol
ReplyDeleteHi Abeni, I really enjoyed reading your post because it feels very sincere and full of kindness. It’s really beautiful that you decided to keep going and not give up. May God bless you greatly in your academic journey!
